Usui Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
The beauty of reiki energy is it is very gentle. Reiki operates with free will, so the person or animal receiving reiki will only receive the depth or amount of universal life force that aligns with their personal situation or comfort level. Reiki partners well with other healing modalities and therapies to help soothe the underlying energetic shifts that happen during great change or restructuring.
Karen is a Usui Reiki Master and an Animal Reiki Practitioner. She is a registered affiliate with Reiki.org. She was recently certified under Geordie Numata in Angelic Liquid Light Healing® Level 1, which is available for both people and pets.

All sessions are currently held distantly over Zoom, so the animal can move, rest or do as they please in the comfort and safety of their home.
With animals, receiving the animal’s consent to do reiki is necessary at the beginning of the session. If consent is not given, session is refundable or transferable. After the session Karen will reach out to the owner and relay details of importance that their animal shared. This way the pet parent is able to have actionable steps and ideas to implement to support their animal’s wellbeing.

For those seeking a sustained focus in intention and desiring deep rest. This session length invites time to relax into a deep meditative state.
All sessions are currently held distantly over Zoom, so that each participant can relax in the comfort of their own space.

*30 minutes of reiki is plenty of time for animal sessions. Once consent is given they receive reiki very quickly and deeply. Animals are highly intuitive and sensitive and are very aware “how much“ energy they need to receive and from whom, so longer is not usually better. If a longer duration of care would be beneficial to the animal, shorter sessions spread out are usually the way to go.
**Animals are very specific in their sessions and Karen will relay any important information the animal wishes their pet parent to know. Karen does not diagnose health issues, only relays feedback from the animal. Any health concerns should be followed up with veterinarian recommended care.
***Animals have different personalities and complex relationships with those around them. It is just like getting to know new roommates, office mates and dates - everyone needs time, consideration and space to shift into new dynamics.
